Are you Hungry?

http://www.centenary-ws.org/clientimages/46161/template/Are_You_Hungry_2.gif
It's only been a few days since the launch of Prior2Boarding and the other P2B bloggers have gotten off to a fast start with some cool and interesting posts. I’m thrilled to join the BoardingArea/P2B family and look forward to getting to know my fellow bloggers both online and in-person later this year in Vegas.

As for me, while this is just my first post as a P2B blogger, I promise that it wasn't because I was sleeping on the job. I've been spending the past few days trying to organize the content in my blog in preparation of migrating over to the BoardingArea servers, and as part of that the blog will be getting a much needed facelift.

Until that happens you're stuck with this old format, but hopefully you'll enjoy some of the content that's coming your way. Let's talk a little about what's to come.

What is Hungry for Points about?

Good question. I started this blog a few years ago to share information related to two of my passions - food and travel. Until now, most of the content has revolved around trip reports which provide in-depth reports and reviews of flights, hotels, and of course places to chow down. Going forward, I'm planning to expand beyond trip reporting and include more information related to tips, tricks, and news.

The Food

My travel idol is Anthony Bourdain (pre-CNN), and if he's done an episode on a destination we are visiting, then that becomes our travel guide. My wife and I are food lovers who will eat anything. For us, no trip is complete without a food tour which includes everything from street food to fine dining.

What it means for you: Let us do the heavy eating and provide recommendations on the must-eat places around the world.

Previous reports: Astrid y Gaston in Lima, Peru; Steirereck in Vienna; Nahm in Bangkok; Food tours around Sydney, Macau and Seoul

The Flights

Since I rarely travel for work, the primary source of my points/miles comes from credit cards, shopping portals, and manufactured spend. And the vast majority of those are spent on flight award redemptions. I'm a recent United defector who has found a new home with Alaska Airlines and couldn't be happier. I also enjoy learning the nuances of each airline's program in order to maximize each and every one of those hard earned miles.

What it means for you: I'll keep you up-do-date on the best ways to earn and burn your airline miles, and will share news of any great deals which for me, have recently included Emirates First Class through the ex-CMB fare, Cathay Pacific Business Class from MLE, and the once-in-a-lifetime $250 ex-RGN fare on Korean Air First Class.

Previous reports: ANA First Class; British Airways First Class; Cathay Pacific First Class; Singapore Air First Class; Thai Airways First Class

The Hotels

I have mid-tier status with Starwood/Hyatt/Hilton, but since most of my precious points/miles are spent on flights, that means I typically only have enough points in a given year to redeem a handful of free nights.

What that means for you: I'm a free agent when it comes to hotels. So in addition to reviews on the usual chain hotels, I'll also be bringing you reliable and unbiased reports on other properties such as the MGM Skylofts in Vegas, Amangalla in Sri Lanka, Cocoa Island by COMO in the Maldives, and Emirates Wolgan Valley near Sydney.

Previous reports: Conrad Maldives Rangali Island; Conrad Macao; Park Hyatt Seoul; Grand Hyatt Hong Kong; Hilton Sydney

Hopefully that gives you a better idea about what to expect from my blog. If you're a fellow food lover, then I welcome you to loosen your belt and join me!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or feedback - look forward to hearing from you!
