And The Award For Best Airlines Goes To...

The World Airline Awards were held today at the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire, England, and Cathay Pacific scooped up the award for Best Airline, taking over the top spot from Emirates which dropped to #4. The Skytrax rankings were determined based on the votes from millions of travelers.

As with any other set of rankings and awards, they must be taken with a grain of salt as each and every traveler has different preferences and opinions when it comes to their favorite airline. As far as my experiences go, Cathay Pacific has actually been the airline I've traveled on most frequently as of late. Each and every flight we've taken, which has included First Class to Hong Kong and Business Class from the Maldives, has been consistently good. I was particularly impressed by our recent Business Class experience, and am not alone in saying that they have the best Business Class product out there today.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 were:

1 Cathay Pacific Airways
2 Qatar Airways
3 Singapore Airlines
4 Emirates
5 Turkish Airlines
6 ANA All Nippon Airways
7 Garuda Indonesia
8 Asiana Airlines
9 Etihad Airways
10 Lufthansa

What are your thoughts on the rankings of the world's best airlines?

  1. Of course, no American airline ranks....Oh they do..just at the bottom of the list. We deserve better and that is why I drive now instead of flying.
